Advice needed on VW (not emissions) nationwide issue

Hi, i'm hoping someone can help if possible. So basically i ordered my next lease car in the first week of April, the lease broker found a supplying dealer who had a booked build slot and said the new car would be ready for july so 12 weeks which the dealer and VW chat confirmed and would keep for when my current lease ends. Roll forwards 3 months i still hadn't received a build slot so questioned this but neither my dealer, VW or the lease company could answer me.
I then helped a friend order the same car same dealer, same model, same engine, no extras like mine, to which 3 weeks later he had a confirmed build date whereas mine had removed from the system. Again no one could help and weeks went past, to which the dealer said if still no news and we get close we will sort you out to keep you mobile via loan, hire, extend lease or give you a contribution.
Another week past and the dealer agreed to find me another order with a confirmed build week so i had a date. this however kept moving and eventually got confirmed as 10th September 15 days before my lease ends. I asked VW customer services to step in and was allocated a case adviser.
My car was then built after my friends even though he ordered his 3 months after mine with the same dealer! not much i could do and no one knew why or didn't want to say. so state of play now, car was built and told 1 week in build then 1 week testing then shipped, following week this changed to 2 weeks in build 1 week testing, few days later this changed to 2 weeks in build and 2-3 weeks testing to the new wltp emissions. I asked on a saturday to which the chap said it was built and at the docks, roll on Monday VW chat said it was still in build! how can a car go backwards in build?
It then turns out VW managed to build the car inspect it test it and release it to the docks in a day, i didn't care and was relieved ti was moving forwards albeit still past my current lease date end. The VW agent on my case was still trying to get hold of the supplying dealer to arrange something to keep me mobile but hey wouldn't answer his calls nor return them. yesterday i get the message my car is awaiting to be loaded and should be with me in 3 weeks i check the VW tracking site and ring the dealer to which they all confirm this.
Today though less than 24 hours my car is at the docks still but wont be delivered to the dealer until the certificate for the new testing is delivered and that the factory have said the car wont be released until the first week of december! in less than 24 hours i've gone from a built car being delivered in 3 weeks to 3 months.
Add to the pain i ring the dealer who knows nothing so i send him the VW chat script and he checks with VW and confirms its true. I ring the agent from VW and he says as the car is built it's not technically delayed so they can't do anything else for me!

I'm about to lose the plot completely, i am not the only one in this position going by the Tiguan forum. Surely it's not that easy and i can get VW to honour/see me ok for all this?

Unfortunately walking away isn't an option as i love the car plus any other car is a 12 week lead time now so i'd be in the same position.

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks for reading (albeit tha'ts hours of your life you wont get back)

  • Good job its a lease car and your not buying it. I bet it had a few issues along its short life.

VW are having big problems across a whole swathe of models. Is your friend's car the exact same specification, including any options that will make a difference to weight/rolling resistance/aerodynamics, and not just part of the same basic model range?

And people make mistakes. Believe the online tracker, because that's integrated with the manufacturing systems.

Have some computers got limits on carriage returns these days?

Nope, mine still has plenty left.
