The SORN'd car can enter the public highway perfectly legally as long as it's on the back of a tow truck with all the wheels off the ground. So if you blocked a drive so as to prevent such a loading operation, you'd be causing an obstruction.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Please explain what part of the RTA gives the police the right to remove the vehicle blocking the driveway assuming that the vehicle is not causing an obstruction to the actual highway? There is a differing answer when you google it: e.g. http://www.safermotoring.co.uk/parking-near-private-driveway-what-law.html

    Unnecessary or wilful obstruction.
  • Just torch it; they wont park there again

Why would you torch your own car?

Must be one of weirdest posts on here. Oh wait I just read the OP again ;)

Well it's not blocked unless you have the intention of taking it from your driveway. As another poster mentioned, do you have a dropped kerb and is this other car completely blocking your drive?
  • And the police will actually respond to a call about a blocked driveway ??
    In what, 1 week, 2 weeks ??

More to keep the dropped kerb free for you to park across it rather than free to leave the drive?

And there would be nothing wrong with that. You can't "obstruct" you're own access to the public highway.

In my experience if at all.

Phone them and explain there's a car blocking your driveway and you want something done about it. They will tell you they have nobody available in your area. So tell them that you have a gun and will shoot the owner if they don't come. They will arrive pronto. When they accuse you of telling lies by saying you had a gun, reply by saying that they, too, were telling lies when they said they had nobody available in your area. But since they're here they might as well deal with the obstruction :rotfl:
