Parents paying too much?
Hi
I think my parents are paying too much for the energy 4 bed mid-terrace 4 adults will be only 3 adults next month. They havent been giving readings as my sister used to do it for them online when she lived at home.
Electric £1080 5902kwh estimated
Gas £764 20200 Kwh estimated
If I want to switch their energy should I use the above figures or should I use the average uk consumption.
Thanks

You really need their ACTUAL consumptions - not a UK average.
Time to look at their bills, find an Actual reading of about 12 months ago, read their meter now and do your sums. Ignore whatever the comparison sites tell you about savings - you are only interested in the estimate for the year.
If you can do the switch yourself in their name and you monitor the online statements and give the readings.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Spoke to my sister she cant find any actual readings and she just sent me the annual summary.0

Then use the estimated ones you have.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Your parents should call the current supplier with actual meter readings to hand.
Then the supplier will be able to advise you on the best figures to assume.
(And your parents will know if they are owed, or owe potentially a substantial amount)0 -
Thanks will do0

Everything, all everything will be in the 'online account' :
- tariff name
- tariff prices
- discounts
- meter reads
- standing charges
- area [pricing] code
- graphical + numerical
- annual CAC
You need the online access to move from floundering guess to fact based decision making my friend. Best of luck.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Then use the estimated ones you have.
The supplier is estimating this user consumes substantially more energy than average, presumably with good reason ... if only based on historical meter reads provided by the sister.
An up to date meter reading submission will solve many issues here.0 -
