Can you tax a car with no V5
My sisiter has been given a car which she knows the history of and its previous owner however they cant find the reg document, Im pretty sure you can still tax it which she needs to do asap as its parked on the road. The car is MOT ed. Shes telling me the PO have told her she cant do it without the V5 etc which she has no part of.

Only the current keeper can tax without a V5 or V11. You will need to apply for a V5 using a V62 and £25. When you get the V5 you can then tax it. Alternatively the quickest way, as it should only take around a week, would be for the old keeper to get a new V5 by phone and pay the £25 fee. They can then transfer to you and you can tax it using the new keeper slip.
