Outfox the Market is increasing unit rates and monthly membership

I just checked my account and it now says my tariff is 'Zapp! December' which isn't on the Energy Club site. Like you I chose 'Zapp September 2018' (Medium User) and it shows me to be £12 a year cheaper than Pure Planet.0

So, the question is, should I stick with OFTM as it's still a good deal, or switch to an 18-month fixed, that is £110 more expensive (~10%), in case OFTM prices rise again within the next year? Hmmm, tempted to switch.0

I will wait and see but I thought prices on the whole were meant to be coming down. What a con. MSE also misleading. Looks like the coal fire will be used more and gas less.0

Worst decision I made when switching to this company, the list of errors and poor customer support feels endless, three bills in one month completely missed any statement in the first month, and say I am in debt to them by hundreds of pounds but they can't explain how. The previous supplier I paid £20 a month more and when leaving had £183 credit yet after only a few months with outfox the market I'm supposed to be in debt! When raising the issue with them on a live chat I had four different people, one just left for their break, only when I wrote what's going on are you there did the next person admit "she's gone on her break" who leaves a customer midway in a "conversation". I have started to switch today and will be contacting Ofgem to complain, and the email today Says...
Your energy prices are increasing from November 1st 2018
Electricity and gas wholesale prices (the price Outfox the Market pay for your energy) have continued to see unprecedented increases throughout 2018. As a result of this and a rise in additional costs that make up your bill, the price you pay for your energy is increasing by 7.4%.0 -

I think this could be another case of MSE's information being more than a little misleading, although in this case it's not just MSE repeating the misinformation. As mentioned above, Outfox do not offer multiple Zapp tariffs. According to their T&C The 'Zapp tariff' is variable rate, so I've no idea why mentioning a month has any relevance.
It is also misleading of MSE to say you'll be on a Low, Medium or any other rate as the fee/tariff is derived from an estimated usage figure based on historical usage, so unless they have a fully functional crystal ball then knowing the actual fee you'll be charged is unlikely.0 -
Annoyed my membership fee is going up when they refuse to use my actual annual usage (1,500 units) and use their estimated 3100.
New build, so no two year history.0 -
Gave them a new meter reading a few days ago but nothing has updated on my account page.0

You only moved into your new build home just before May this year (according to your first ever post using this user ID , but we can all see you have been a member here for years) so you don't have an actual annual usage figure in this home, only an estimate
So you are annoyed they don't agree with your perhaps low estimate, but prefer in the absence of any any actual data, to rely upon the Ofgem stated average figure. :cool:0 -

Or maybe it's the misleading/inaccurate information provided by MSE that has been causing people problems.
Not surprising considering that this site tells users the tariff is based on usage, which is incorrect.
At least Outfox themselves do acknowledge the price is based on the EAC, even if this small detail is hidden in the terms and conditions. Even then, how many people know that this EAC appears to be a whimsical figure that the company can change as they see fit.0 -
My parents, signed-up by me, are still on the Whack January 18 Month Fixed Tariff and paying £85.09 a month for their electricity 7 gas, this includes the membership fee - I have noted no price increase whatsoever and the cost of our deal with OFTM is the cheapest available by a long shot - our deal expires at the end of September 2019, folks give meter readings via the phone and are happy with the service - I'm even happier as latest cheapest fixed deal is £105 a month, so the Whack January 18 Month Fixed Tariff have proved a massive cost saver compared to our previous two suppliers, namely Ovo Energy and First Utility.0
