Tesco direct order Help required

Options
Hello ,
I ordered furniture from Tesco direct 15th June 2018(closing down sale), then received e-mail from the furniture manufacture on 19th July 2018 stating there was a delay due to high demand and order has now been scheduled for production on 7th September 2018 at this time I could cancel order if not happy with this.
I wasn't too happy but decided to wait .
Then yesterday 20th September 2018 received e-mail which has now cancelled my order they are going to refund all monies owed plus an extra 10% as a gesture of goodwill to apologise for any inconvenience.
To say im not happy would be an understatement but is there anything I can do??

Any help or advice would be welcome.

Like what? If they can’t obtain the stock, what else are they suppose to do? Full refund plus 10%, accept it and move on. You choose to wait longer, they did give you the option to cancel then. Yes you are disappointed, but they have done all that they can.

Is the 10% GW gesture also in "cash"? (i.e. repaid to the same method of payment). Or is it in vouchers/discount codes against future purchases?

(Just curious ... legally all they need to do is refund you in full. Yes, you could apply interest at BoE base rate plus 8%, pro-rated annually, but that wouldn't amount to anywhere near like a 10% GW gesture).

The statutory interest that you refer to only applies for commercial debts (B2B) and not for any debt that involves consumers.

I believe you can still use the same basis to claim "loss of use of the funds", but this would have to be via small claims court and is not guaranteed to succeed.

It will be the same payment method. I purchased a couple of sofas just before they closed down. Couple of days later they cancelled and gave me 10% as a goodwill gesture. They have closed tesco direct so vouchers would be no use.
  • Hi All,

I’m in the same position as the original post, however the manufacturer of the product I ordered (wow sofa) are still selling the sofa I ordered with 20 days delivery time. I wouldn’t mind waiting an additional 20 days but the sofa is £200 more than what I was originally charged. I don’t actually think there is a supply issue as such! Is there anything I can do? Can Tesco’s and Wow sofa just cancel my order??

Wow have taken the step either not run the production for Tesco or done so much, nobody can force wow to do more, so Tesco only have the option to refund, and added 10%. What more can they do?
