Sold a phone was perfect, buyer had it unlocked now complaining of a faulty screen?

As the title says I sold my phone in perfect condition and the buyer has messaged to say they have had it unlocked and now it has a screen issue. It didn’t have one before it went.
They want to return it for a refund.
Have I got any protection here, as I do t know whether whenever they’ve had it unlocked, has caused the (apparent) damage /issue?
As I say, there was no issue when it went.
Can anyone advise?
Many thanks!

Never known an unlock affect the screen.
Depends how/where they bought it and the payment method.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I sold it on eBay and they paid via Paypal0

I should also add that my listing has photos of the phone on and working, with no pink screen issue..0

If they open a dispute then I would point out to ebay that the buyer has carried out a modification* to the phone so it is unfair that you should have to accept a return when they cannot return it in the same state.
*ok, so unlocking is not really a modification, but if the phone didn't work fine then why would they get it unlocked??Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
You may need to contact ebay several times before you get someone to listen to and agree with you.
Even then they may not hold up to what they promise.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
