Car dealer hid information from me

Hi everyone
In March I bought a used car from a car dealer. I checked the HPI myself and it was clean also asked them specifically if the car was in any accidents in the past. They told me no, that they would never sell a car like that to anyone. So today I took the car to my local garage and one of the mechanics, after inspecting the paint, told me that the car was painted all over doors etc.
Is there anything I can do about that? Get some of my money back. Anything?
Have a good day everyone

Having doors painted doesn't necessarily mean it's been in an accident. They could have been resprayed due to poor paintwork for example.
What evidence do you have it's been in an accident?0 -
IF that happened to me i would assume that it had been vandalised and not been in an accident. Id forget about it as it wasnt ever bad enough for me to notice.0

could simply be to cover up a scratch or mark, not significant to cause damage but just someone OCD who wanted a clean door.
you wont get money back for someone making the car look better..nor should you want money back for the car being completely acceptable to you at the time of purchase.0 -
It's been 6 months. How will the dealer know you've not done it?0

Technically he didn't hide information from you, I gather from your post that you didnt ask him if it had the doors sprayed, you asked if it had been in an accident.0

Isn't a dealer duty-bound to proffer information that may affect a consumer's buying decision, without having to be directly asked by the consumer? I'd imagine that being informed about resprayed doors would fall under that category (assuming of course that the dealer did in fact know about it, or should have reasonably known about it).0

But how would they know? Only if the guy who sold/ part exd it to them told them. Which I doubt they would as they are instantly wrecking the value. If OP can prove dealer knew then certainly has a case, but I'd say that's impossible.0 -

That's easier said than done!! I had a Citroen BX in the early 90's which looked pristine on the forecourt when I bought it but when my brother pointed out the colour difference on one of the wings under a street light, it bugged me for the rest of my ownership.
I found it impossible to "un-notice" it0 -
Sounds like the car dealer hid nothing from you, at the time of the purchase i presume you were happy with the paint work or you would have mentioned it, now some mechanic has mentioned the respray you seem to think your owed something...................
maybe some toe rag keyed the panels and the previous owner tried to fix himself with a can of spray.0 -
Depends if it's been done in a different colour? If so does the logbook match up? If not you have something to go back to them with.
If same colour there's not much you can do.
Could have been keyed, battery acid, bird poop burnt on in the heat, a number of things..0
