Yes, the reason previously on analogue you could record one analogue channel whilst viewing another is that both the TV had an analogue tuner and the recorder had an analogue tuner - 2 tuners in total.

If you want to record digital and watch digital, again you need 2 tuners, this time 2 digital tuners.

You could opt for a digital (DTT - Freeview) tuner in the TV and a digital tuner in the recording device, maybe a DVD recorder or DVD/HDD recorder with Freeview, this then allows you to watch a Freeview channel on the TV whilst recording another Freeview channel.

If you don't want a new TV yet, then you can use 2 Freeview boxes and an old VCR. A Freeview box and VCR / DVD / DVD-HDD Recorder with built-in Freeview. A Sky+ box, a V+ box (Virgin's multi-tuner box) or a Freeview box with 2 tuners, all PVRs.

I'd say the best route when buying a new TV is to ensure it has Freeview built-in, then choose how you want to record digital channels.

I have Freeview in my TV, a Sky box, a cable box and DVD/HDD Recorder, I did also have a Freeview box, but since the new TV has Freeview, I've taken that out of the loop.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Maybe they meant to use " instead of '

    So that's 30 inches+ and not 30 foot+

Though again I think they meant 20 instead of 30.

So they want a 20" or greater TV.

    :D I know. ;)

There are a couple of similar threads running at the mo.

You really need to think about your likely usage before purchase. Will you be using Freeview? Prefer Twin Tuners? DVD Recorder or DVR? HDMI or DVI?

So list your likely usage and we can come up with effective solutions.
