Reclaim for car bought during emissions scam

Hi, I have recently heard some adverts on the radio from a company who allegedly help you to reclaim up to half the vehicle value for those who bought a VW vehicle (Audi etc) during the emissions scam period.
Is anyone aware of the rights to this reclaim please?

Probably nothing but avarice is calling regardless...
  • Diesel emissions are not an MOT item in the UK. Diesels only get a smoke test which is not the issue in the news. Their emissions test is totally different which is how the cars knew it was emissions test time.

I'm bombarded with ads for this on the radio on my way to work. They reckon they can get you half the vehicle value if you only leased the thing!

As far as I can see, there are no provable financial losses to customers.

Some people got rid early, and the trade-in value was depressed, but the second hand market fluctuates with the whim of the buying public anyway- at the moment there is fear that The Government are outlawing diesels, and the DPF failures which are cutting second hand prices, so what provable loss directly due to VW was there?

Otherwise, driving it damaged the health of more people than the driver expected to if they actually took careful note of the claimed NOx figures, but as no-one is suing the drivers (as you can't prove which car was the one that actually gave you a respiratory illness) again the owner suffered no loss.

(Obviously £10,000 would salve my conscience over all the extra CHILDREN that I had made ill)

If I were presiding over this I'd throw it out as the nonsense it is (actually- likely I'd take 5 years to do so, and commission a couple of dozen well paid committees that I could sit on.........)

On the other hand, fining VW heavily for getting caught and giving the money to the NHS is what I would want
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Prove you bought the car for the low NOx readings (something that isn't part of the sales process in the UK) and then you can demand a refund.

US measures NOx, that was what the cheat test was done to beat, realistically someone in the UK has not lost anything as a result of this but, on the flip side, due to customer ignorance, they probably have as the resale value tanked

Resale values have not been altered though. They may have for a few days when the hype and scaremongering set in.

But after a few days everyone realised there is no change here in the UK. So not an issue and prices returned to normal.
