Hi, my child is going off to university, she wants to get gadget insurance for her laptop, purely for theft, maybe loss(PC world covers us for breakdowns and stuff)
Every site I've seen so far only does theft, failure, loss and acc damage. None do theft only and the 3 year rule seems set in stone.
Does anyone know of any firms that are slightly more flexible over this?
Thanks.

Not worth the money.Barry_Badrinath wrote: »None do theft only and the 3 year rule seems set in stone.
That's becuase a 3 years old machine is worth nothing and most people might complain at the pay out. Unless of course you paid £2000 for it. And even then they drop like stones. Cheaper to get a seocnd hand machine to be honest.
Unless it's the cult of mac that is. But then you can get applecare.0 -
Home insurance often covers your family stuff away from home at university, new for old as well in many cases which is better than gadget insurance
Also cancel the pc world nonsense, almost certainly will find an IT guy at uni who will fix the machine for beer moneySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
