Tax credit, hb, is?

My rent is £90 a week.

I was working for a big company. March 2017 -March 2018 was my contract. I was getting CTC/WTC but reduced due to my wage. I was paying full rent.

I left for mat leave Oct 2017 and I got full entitlement (£145pw) for the full time + WTC and my housing benefit allowance was £26 per week.

I then started working (10/7) via reed as a temp. I was working their 7 weeks full time and in total AFTER tax I earned 2152.66£/7 = £307.53pw.

On the 24/8/18 I worked a full day and from the following Monday I have been on unpaid compassionate leave as I went to return to work I was told I was no longer needed. I’m still signed to Reed but I haven’t received any work - (it’s been a week).

When I spoke to HB on Monday (before I found out I no longer had a job) she told me they haven’t updated my claim yet as there’s been a back log from when I sent in everything - new wages slips (10/8) but she will have to suspend my claim based on the figures I gave her (£307.53 a week on average) so I’m not overpaid. She said due to nursery fees being so high I will most likely have been underpaid.

I am now 3 weeks in rent arrears.

My children where in nursery/daycare and now school/nursery from 10/7. During summer holidays I was paying £525 a week. Now I pay £350pw.

I don’t know what I am supposed to do.

1. do I contact income support? (I am still signed on to the agency just not in work)
2. With contacting income support do they tell tax credits and my WTC will be stopped immediately?
3. Will they back date my claim? Even though I was on unpaid compassionate leave?
4. My daughter is still in nursery, I’ve given them the minimum notice but if they stop my tax credits I won’t be able to cover the notice period but if I don’t tell Tax credits I will have to pay it all back.
5. What date do I give tax credits/income support. The date I was officially made job less (although signed to the agency) OR the last day I worked and got paid? (24/8)

At present CTC/WTC is all I’m living on. I get WTC/CTC/CB in total £430pw.

No other income besides child maintenance of £65 a month if he bothers to pay it.

I have three children, 1 under 1.

Advice needed please.

Even if the OP was in a full UC area they couldn't claim it because they have 3 children. UC can't be claimed by those who have more than 2 children.

If you're no longer working then you need to report the changes to HMRC as all changes must be reported. Are you still receiving child care? as you're not working then this isn't needed and you won't be entitled to it.

Once you claim IS then DWP will contact HMRC anyway. The date you give should be the last date you worked.

I was on unpaid leave I didn’t know I wasn’t going back until I went to go back and they told me no.

Also I’m still on reeds books so am
I still classed as working then or not? As if I’m still classed as working I can’t claim IS.

You are not in employment as you do not receive any money. You are merely registered with Reed for employment offers.

Update. Contacted IS I don’t qualify until my 4 week run on finishes with tax credit. Won’t get back dated. Have to cover nursery fees myself (impossible).

Childcare isn't needed because you're no longer working.

Yes I know but the nursery policy means you have to give notice. I’ve given the notice So still have to cover the period until then. The 4 week run on can cover it but means I can’t eat or pay any other bill until that time. Rent/council tax still has to be paid as Only eligible for Full HB once on IS and prior (within the notice period) they don’t take nursery fees in to account so they say I can cover full rent - which I cannot.
