I suppose the correction means that they can start to buy at lower prices than last week. Possibly.0

Can anyone advise me regarding my Smithson Investment Trust. I am a Fundsmith Investor and when the Smithson Inv Trust was launched I decided to invest but as we all know this is not a tax free investment. I wanted to know if it Is it possible to retrospectively apply a tax free ISA wrapper to my existing Smithson Investment which has now been running since launch and has grown quite well too. Thanks in advance.0

Simple answer is, no (except for a few special situations, which yours is not).
To put investments into a ISA from a GIA you will need to sell the investments, move the money in to the ISA and then re-buy. If the GIA investments were held on the same platform as the ISA account you can do what is called 'bed and ISA'; this is basically where your provider will discount some of the costs for selling and re-buying within the ISA.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Yep. And bed and ISA at the CGT lImit so you don't have to pay any. Remember, the limit is a GAIN of £12300 not a sale of £12300 worth of SSON.cloud_dog said:QSimple answer is, no (except for a few special situations, which yours is not).

Thanks for the info ... can anyone suggest the best place to approach to 'bed and invest' my SSON? Thanks0

I don't think you can unless your current platform also runs an ISA. Did you buy the SSON shares directly through Link from the Smithson website?R0yG said:Thanks for the info ... can anyone suggest the best place to approach to 'bed and invest' my SSON? Thanks
I have owned my Smithson shares inside an ISA since IPO. I use Youinvest but there are lots of other choices. You might be able to transfer your shares to a GIA inside that platform first.1 -
I had invested £50k at IPO (not added or sold since). It has done very well since. Just wondering if anyone is or has rebalanced into other funds since IPO? Or has added to it since IPO? I have some cash to invest and would like to increase exposure to small/mid caps and not sure whether to buy this or something else or sell some of Smithson to rebalance.

I bought 10k in my ISA at IPO and then added another 40K in the SIPP a little after IPO. I haven't touched it since and have used other funds to add to small/mid caps where appropriate.itwasntme001 said:I had invested £50k at IPO (not added or sold since). It has done very well since.
