Good idea pigpen, DD wants a dog too. Maybe I could sponsor one for her for a year.

I sponsored a dolphin for my neice a few years ago but it died and she saw it on the news!!! A dog is a little less high profile.

Congratulations to Jue! Great news about the job.
Great news about little Matthew lil_me.

Well I've gone from feeling really nervous about tomorrow, to actually feeling excited! :j I went to see Jessica (the girl who was supplying at the school I'm going to be in) after school, and spent a couple of hours with her in the classroom that I'm going to be teaching in tomorrow, marking the childrens' work, and finding out what I've got to do tomorrow. I don't have to be in on Friday after all cos they have an inset day, but Karen from the agency called to see how I was, and said she'll try to find me somewhere else for Friday.

The class I'm going to be in is fairly challenging, in the fact that they are apparently very talkative, and there are a few children with English as a second language (Polish), but there are only 22 children which is great, and the whiteboard and laptop are the same as the ones I used in my last placement, so at least I won't have to get to grips with new technology as well. I'm keen to meet the headteacher though, cos I have a funny feeling that he used to teach me when I was at primary school as his name rings a bell, and if it is the same guy, I sang at his wedding in my school choir. How weird is that?

There are a few things that I want to look up on the net, as their topic work at the moment is the Tudors, and we never learnt about them when I was at school, so need to read up a bit. They are also doing haikus in literacy based on Bonfires using similes and metaphors, so I need to see if I can find some examples of Haikus.

Oooh! Never thought I'd feel excited about standing up in front of a class of Year 6 children, but now I know what I'm going to be doing with them, I feel a lot more confident, especially as what they are doing in numeracy is what I was teaching my Year 5s on my PGCE placement. :T

Hope the good luck ripples around the rest of the flyladies on this board!
