Opening an account with baggage

Hi everyone
I was bankrupt 6 years ago and discharged 3 years ago. My credit ratings are now excellent but when trying to get put onto my wifes account at LloydsTSB has caused all sorts of problems, probably as they have still got details of the banckruptcy on their internal system.
My question is this, if I apply to a bank that I have never had past dealings with, will they talk to other banks before opening an account?

No. They will search your credit file with one or more of the credit reference agencies*, and will only see what you can see yourself.

Have you checked your file to see if your past troubles have 'fallen off'?


* They'll also make checks of fraud prevention agencies.

Yes, my credit scores are now 'excellent' and no mention of bankruptcy in the credit reports.
Will fraud prevention agencies have any bankruptcy information?
