    Hi everyone
Just to say how excited I was to find out this support group is still going. I was one of the original members from 2007 and the many fantastic people on here really helped me on my journey.
A massive well done to everyone here facing their debt head on. It’s not an easy thing to do and it can feel exhausting, but wow, it’s worth it in the end.
    Good luck to you all!

Well done on getting yourself debt free 😊.. I bet it feels great! I've got a long journey ahead myself but so glad I took hold of things and started the clock ticking to being debt free.

These forums and the members on here are a lifesaver and give you so much confidence to tackle things head on. Can't thank them enough
  • Just a quick post as yesterday I had my first default actually show up on my credit file..... I know having defaults in there true form is not good as it shows my rubbish financial behaviour BUT the new me is very happy to receive this as now I can send my offer of payment in and get moving with the DMP..... 1 down only 6 more creditors to go!!!! Thanks again for all the advice and support I get from everyone in here ..... I know this isn’t the end but finally feel like things are going in the direction I want!
    Current Debt- Jan 2021 - £27500
  • Hi, I have now set up my DMP, all but one of my credit cards have stopped all interest and fees, for now, I have started my emergency fund, I have used the nedcab.cabmoney/ for all my letters etc, I have run through the offers part for when everything is back so I can work out payments but the payments they are suggesting are pretty much the same as before the DMP, I want to pay the debt off but leave myself some room to save for emergencies.
So should I just wait before I make payments? I have 2 missed payments so far on my credit score the others have not done anything yet. And do I work out what is sensible to pay in terms of my offers? my plan is to save enough to pay 1 card at a time off. thanks for all the answers its been a great relief doing this I feel I have a bit of control back.

  • Hi everyone, Stepchange have now cancelled my DMP after not paying anything towards my plan for 3 consecutive months. I now want to go down the route of self managed. All my creditors have now defaulted me barring one. My question is, where do I go from here?
  • Lorus1081. Write to the creditors who have defaulted you and explain you will be making the payments directly to them. Tell them how much you will pay and when you will start. The account which has not been defaulted I would wait until it is and then start paying what you can afford.
  • Hi Moveslikeagger, thanks for your reply. I will do that. I have just been through a few pages of the thread and I have seen where others have requested for CCA. So I will do that first and then take it from there.

Hi So I just got a letter saying:
    Important: Notice of Debt Collection
From Wescot on behalf of Natwest, but I think it's on an unenforceable debt. How do I respond to this, do I start to pay them £5 a month just to shut them up, or do I just ignore?
I have got self managed, but I have not written then as the debt is unenforceable. I could easily just send them a letter, and then say what - I'm not paying? I'll pay what I used to pay to through Stepchange?
They have also called ma and I have blocked the number, si In the letter I will also restate that I will only communicate by letter. I think I prefer to pay them a symbolic amount to shut them up. But not sure if it will work.
    Thanks in advance.

As I have posted many times in the past, Wescot are only collectors who manage their clients accounts, they are powerless to do anything, so why pay an unenforcable debt ?
Concentrate on the enforcable ones, tell them what you intend to do, don`t be a shrinking violet.
