Am I posting on the right thread for advice?
I am not as clued up as most. Sorry. Am I asking too many questions perhaps ?
Thanks to those who did advise me.

Hi everyone
In addition to this, I forgot to add I received a letter from HSBC stating that as I hadn't signed my letter they couldn't do anything with my account (I'd asked them to give me 30 days grace with regards to payments etc).
How true is this? I was under the impression you didn't have to put your signature on anything.

You are posting on the right thread for advice. Apologies if we have missed responding to one of your posts.
Please re-post and we will get back to you.
This is a fairly fast moving section of the forum and we do our best to answer all the queries, but do occasionally miss something.

Sourcrates - I had read on this thread previously a few times that people were being advised to send their letters unsigned? There were no reasons given I just took the advice. I put my name of course just didn't sign .Around 20K starting point :eek::eek::eek: Will get there eventually :T0

No need for apologies I wasn't sure i was in the right place. Am just overworrying about things I think .
So I put them all on notice and ask them to freeze or would step change do this for me.?
All accounts are up to date as of now. And payday 18th November next one. So between now and then open a new account and contact all my creditors?
Are you also saying to issue complaints now before I ask them to freeze my accounts?
Sorry for all the questions I just don't want to do anything wrong
Thanks again.
Add: I opened a nationwide flex account yesterday so hopefully that will all be set up by next payday 18th November.
Tomorrow I will cancel all DD and CPA with existing bank. I guess then I write to creditors advising 're cancelled payments etc. Do I also ask them all for statements of account ( well those I can't obtain myself online?).
All a bit daunting but that's for your support so far.
So you think I complain 're the PDL at the same time as cancelling ?

You need to contact your creditors and advise them you are seeking support for your financial difficulties and let them know Stepchange are helping you. Ask them to freeze interest and charges. They will initially do this for 30 days.
If you feel strong enough you can do this by phone. To be honest, all my creditors were fine and the minute I mentioned SC they were helpful and told me they would implement 30 day no contact and also freeze interest and charges for this period.
If you don't feel able to phone then write asap. If writing also include the sentence that you do not give them permission to contract you by phone and all communication regarding the account must be in writing.
I'm not sure what you mean about complaints - I must have missed your post about that. Please post again or clarify what you mean.
Yes - open a new account and contact creditors asap. Make sure your salary will go to the new account. Delete all payments (direct debits, standing orders) from existing account. No point in letting them be rejected and potentially generating charges.
You can ask for statements of account if you want to, so that you know where each debt stands at the moment. It's not necessary, but it may be helpful to have that information.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Have a thorough read of the DebtCamel article and pay particular attention to the bit that refers about what to do when you want to freeze and complain at the same time. The letter templates and additional sentences required are all there for you. Just read it thoroughly and use the linked articles for additional advice/support. Just in case you don't know which DebtCamel article I mean, I have linked it below.

Thank you @January2015 very helpful.
would emails to the creditors be acceptable too do you thin.
All due to be paid again 18th November or within a couple of days of then.
I will start contacting them (16 of them) and advise them what you said, thanks once again. What then happens after the 30 days?
I have already done my SC remedy statement so I guess there just waiting for my further instructions. After the 30 days is that when I instruct SC? Or longer to try build up some emergency funds.
I am so scared about pressing that DD or CPA is cancellation button but guess once done I will feel better.
I just have to try stay positive and think of the long term. I can't wait to be able to say I am debt free:j:j
