I've sent the details via email but it hasn't been updated on my account. I spoke to bank a week ago and explained the problem. Should I just keep them in the loop until stepchange update everything?0

Hello all
I hope everyone on here is coping with the current situation?
I'm just checking in for a bit of reassurance/advice. It's now 4 months since I stopped paying creditors (I informed them all initially but haven't responded since). I'm about 2-3 months away from starting my DMP and have just started receiving calls/e-mails from a couple of collection companies such as Moorcraft.
Would you advise responding to any of these companies that have taken over the debt, such as Moorcroft, informing them that DMP should start in a couple of months, or is it best to not respond at all? I had initially informed my creditors that I envisage starting DMP in early May but, realistically, I think it may now be June or July. Only 3 of my 8 creditors have defaulted me so far.
Many thanks

Ok, so part success two weeks ago I moved which freed up some money to pay off 4 of my husbands debts in his DMP. So he gave notice to Gregory Pennington (who are thieving swines) and I negotiated a full and final settlement with the 4 debts. We have one more that we are waiting to hear on. This one was CCJ'd and was with Tesco directly. We were supposed to have got a letter by today stating whether the offer was accepted or not. No letter (appreciate probably skeleton staff, but I want this over with). Husband called up - going to be another week. I am so impatient. How does it take 21 days to see that his budget is in deficit every flaming month and that I am subbing him.I am a Protection Adviser. Many thanksMoorcroft are just hired collectors, paid on results, they won`t be interested in your DMP, i really wouldn`t bother to be honest.Wait till the debt has been sold.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. These are very difficult times and whilst I can appreciate your frustration in trying to draw a line under this once and for all - you are going to have to be patient. Your husband's debt with Tesco is the least of their concerns right now and in truth you may find it'll takes even longer for them get back to you. Imagine that they are probably dealing with lots of people who are struggling to meet their monthly repayments due to loss of income, job etc and having to respond to numerous enquiries. As yours is on an established repayment plan - one, no doubt, they've been happy with - I can see why they are in no rush to respond.
So sit back and let things take their course - the good news is that you've only got this one left, you've stopped paying extortionate fees to GP and you have a bright debt-free future ahead of you.2 -

Hi
I want to thank everyone on this board for your advice. I've 4 debts 3 are with one debt collection company and one is with original creditor. Your advice enabled me to contact these firms with Income and Expenditure forms with an offer of token payments for my debts. Earlier this week I received two letters accepting my token payment offers for 12 months with the debt collection agency and a review in 6 months with the other organisation ( these payments are within my budget) until my income increases. I feel so much more in control and less stressed as it is one less thing to worry about in this situation.
Without this board I'd still have my head stuck in the sand and contacting organisations has been a lot easier than I'd expected.

Hi, I hope this isnt a stupid question but I am going to ask it as im not sure! I am self managing my debts and some accounts have defaulted (paying £1) - if I start paying more than the £1 pm on defaulted accounts (and maybe a lump sum) will it affect the default and go back to them wanting normal payments with interest and charges added? I am really unsure what happens when defaulted - any advice is welcome - please dont shout at me though
😄

That is not a stupid question!!
Once an account has been defaulted, interest and charges are frozen. A defaulted account is usually passed from the original creditor to a DCA. The DCA will have either purchased the account or are managing the account on behalf of the original creditor.
Just work out your monthly budget and what monthly DMP repayments are affordable, then make your monthly payments toward each defaulted account by Standing Order.
