Thanks for quick response :-)
I stopped paying my debts in January. It has given me the time to get emergency founds.
I have sent letters asking my creditors to freeze all interest and charges and my financial statement and offer in one...
I used CAB website to calculate everything and to generate letters.
So far 2 of my creditors ( Moorcroft and Littlewood) responded and they happy with my repayment plan.
Others ignores my letter and I haven't heart from them at all. Only Arvato acting behave Marbles credit card keep calling 5 times a day.
In the letter I requested to contact me only in writing and to remove my telephone number but as I said they act like they has not received my request. ( all letters sent by recorded delivery).
I'm worried that if my debts are not default they will be forever on my credit report.
I have debts with look again and safetynet but despite not being paid for the last few months they just send me my monthly statement- no letters regarding areas or demands to pay outstanding balance. No respond for my letter so far.0 -
ups...don't know why my previous post appeared twice...
So should I wait with any payments till my debt is default?
What should I do with the ones who agreed with my repayment plan already?
I have messed it up already haven't I....0 -

No you haven't messed it up, so stop fretting
You say you've stopped payments since January and that you are happy you have saved a sufficient EF, so you may as well just get the ball rolling. It doesn't matter whether they've defaulted already or not really - those who haven't will probably do so in the not too distant future and likely sell or move your debt on to a DCA.
Your creditors will have to accept the situation whether they like it or not - if your I&E shows you can only afford x or y - then that's what they'll have to take. You may continue to get computer generated letters for a while longer, but just file them away. Also if you find that any continue to charge interest once you've started the DMP -then drop those payments down to tokens, or zero for as long as it takes.
As for nusiance calls - do as suggested and write just once more telling them they are to conduct all business in writing making it clear (once again) that you no longer give them permission to use your contact telephone numbers and this time warn that if they conitnue to ignore that instruction you will escalate this as a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office. You can also quite easily block their number, but worth letting them know you mean business.0 -
Willing2Learn wrote: »As for defaults. They are a good thing. You want all your creditors to default your accounts. The sooner they are defaulted, the sooner your credit file gets cleaned up. This is because defaults are automatically removed from your credit files six years from the date of default. An Arrangement to Pay marker can stay on your credit file for up to an extra six years!
Sorry, just to say that AP/Late payment markers actually stay on your credit file for 6 years after you have paid/settled the debt so can well be a lot longer than 6 years....Christmas 2020 £109

Hi all,
I have recently set up a self managed DMP all but one of my creditors have accepted my offer, SNC on the other hand are being difficult. They have written back saying they want back dated payments of £355 by the 11th of June, even though I have sent them an I&E so it is clear to them that I do not have the funds to send this amount to them.
Has anyone had any experience in dealing with them OR no how best to proceed with them?
Thank you

Tell them to do one.
Let them sell the debt or pass to a collection agency.

So...had my first snotty call today, stating my account was in arrears and they couldn't hold it until October 1st and they need a payment plan in place, once the hold was removed, then i would be called daily until the arrears were back in line!!!
My response was.."as per my first email, due to data protection laws i requested emails or written communication only, so I will not receive any phone calls"...she said "i think you'll find we have a right to call you" - I said under the new data protection laws, I requested all phone numbers removed, and by calling me today, you are in fact breaking that data protection law...she put me on hold for 4 minutes, came back and apologised and said all communication would now be by email 😂 standing your ground is fun:rotfl:0 -
Just wondering, with the threat of the debt being sold to debt collectors, I've read horror stories that they ask for the whole debt in 1 go, how likely are they to accept payment plans...and how far does it have to go, before visits or CCJs are involved?
