Hello
I've not posted for ages,my token payments have been paid to Stepchange for 11 months, and now it''s review time to make a larger payment. I rarely have contact from creditors and all has been comparatively stress free. However I tried to complete my review online and it was not accepted. I will call them on Monday but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else? Nothing has changed, apart from council tax & a small increase in my electricity.
Many thanks
Nat
Nothing to worry about Nat, i would say its an autonomous thing in order to get you to contact them for a chat, just to go over your budget etc, i`m sure others have had the same thing happen.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi Guys
Had a letter from Capital One this morning asking me to send a signed letter of authority back to them so they can deal with Stepchange.
Do I send this back?
As I'm not planning on starting the DMP until August shall I just send it back when the DMP with Stepchange has been sorted in August?
Thanks guys0 -

It can be difficult at first fielding off constant calls, texts, and letters, but a few months down the line you will wonder what all the fuss was about, these things are all automated you see, triggered to go into action, once you start missing payments, its the computer sending you the text/letter or dialing your phone number, sometimes the call handler gets left behind, hence when you answer the phone, occasionally, no one is there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi all. Just after some more guidance. Last full payments made to my creditors in October 18. Didn't pay any in Nov or Dec 18. Started my DMP in January 19. What I need to know is when I should be getting defaults and if not how I go about pushing for them? Thanks in advance
Started 2019 with £22,5000 debt - March 2021 Debt free - stick with it people I did and now never felt better0 -

Hi,
I read often but don't normally post as there are many more knowledgeable people on here.
Had the same problem yesterday (Sunday) and today (Monday) logged on ready to call SC. Checked the budget and made a few very small changes (£13 reduction) and the budget was accepted!
Was this due to being inside work hours today? I had the phone in front of me ready to call and did not expect this to work?
Hope yours works out the same.0 -

Unfortunately there is no set timeframe. There is ICO guidance for creditors that says default action should commence when 3 contractual payments have been missed - but that doesn't always happen. What you're looking for is anything between 3 - 6 months and at that point if an account hasn't been defaulted you should complain to the company. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll default you, but it's worth pursuing.
Check out this article: https://debtcamel.co.uk/debt-default-date/
By way of an example - credit card debts and loans often get defaulted in a timely manner, but payday lenders and BNPL organisations tend to hold out, much, much longer. If you search for a BNPL company called 'Very' on this forum you'll find out that they refuse to default accounts.
Hopefully yours will play ball. Most of mine defaulted around the 5 - 6 month mark, others I had to chase and one took over a year to default me (although later on in the DMP in did manage to get them to backdate the default).0 -
Anyone who has any specific questions, not directly related to DMP`S, may find they get better responses posting a new thread in the general Debt Free Wannabee forum.
There is a tendency for your question to be missed on this thread as it is so busy at times.

Sourcrates - thank u so much for the advice and the draft letter, been most helpful and I’ve sent the letter to all my creditors today. Have also put in the letter that I’m planning on starting DMP in July/August as really do need some of my EF for car repairs in next few months! Can not believe I’ve got myself into this debt situation but on reading all the advice on this forum I’ve started to feel a massive sense of relief that I’m actually doing something about it. Again many thanks for all the help on here. :0
