How to check balance allowance on 0% balance transfer credit cards

Hi,
I'm trying to support my Mum find a 0% balance transfer credit card. I have used the eligibility calculator and it lists a number of cards with a high percentage success rate. However when she applied for one of these cards, she was accepted but with a balance limit of only a few hundred. She needs a few thousand.

My questions are...

1) Is there a way of checking the balance limit available before application?
2) Even though she is accepted by the credit card company, will multiple (and successful) applications still harm her credit rating?

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you so much.

Comments

  • 1). No, although Nationwide are an exception.
2). The searches will show on her files. She doesn't have a credit rating - lenders will take their own view. Make two or three then give it a break.
