Sound Blocking Curtains - Any experience with them.

I have a noisy alley that is next to my bedroom. The sound reflects in the alley and goes right through the window. As I am renting I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with sound blocking curtains or another cheap alternative that doesn't require a new window or wall.

Options I have found:
I've seen a couple companies that might be options, but don't know anyone with experience with them.

Thanks,

Personally I'd focus on the window - are the seals still in good condition? Does it have trickle vents which could be closed or sealed as they can let in a lot of noise.
  • Hi, the windows are very old, and I couldn't do much with them since I am renting.

I ordered some sound blocking curtains from a company at acoustic-curtains.com. I will update the post with the results I have with them when I receive them.

For a cheap alternative and in addition to the curtain, how about a sheet of polystyrene that you cut to fit in the window?

B&Q sell them for about £10 I think.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Thanks,

Another cheap alternative is to buy some ear plugs, to wear when you go to sleep.

Not sure they have B&Q in San Diego, Home Depot(pronounced incorrectly) maybe :)

OP seems to have missed this is a UK forum.
