Hi hive mind,
We have a guy from Howdens coming tomorrow to measure up for a new kitchen. We've looked through the catalogue, and quite like the look of some of the "Lamorna" white goods, which I believe are Howdens own brand.
Does anyone have any information on the quality, cost, longevity and value of this gear, compared to mainstream brands?
All advice gratefully received.
Any other thoughts on dealing with a Howdens rep also welcome.
PS< Funnily enough we live near Lamorna cove, but that will not be an influencing factor.

You can choose any brand of appliance in almost any style from anywhere, so I don't see any reason for picking Lamona.
The only thing I'm aware of that can be incompatible with Howdens units are built-in microwaves, so one should check the dimensions before purchase.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks for that.
But if they are good value, reliable, etc, then they may prove a god buy.
The trouble is, as they are unique to Howdens, reviews are hard to come by.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0 -
Are you searching for Lamona or Lamorna? If the latter, that would explain why you're finding few reviews.
The general view is that it's cheap and cheerful. To counter that, I inherited a full suite of Lamona built-in appliances when I moved house. The dishwasher lasted four years, the range cooker six. The washing machine, tumble dryer, cooker hood and fridge/freezer are all still working despite being 8 years old and in regular use.0 -
Lamona is just a name, they could be made by anyone. Having said that most brands are just names nowadays. If they are a good price & the 2 year warranty is good enough for you then why not?
Personally I'd go with brand names, at least you know who to shout at if things go wrong.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
