Lloyds Confusion & Amex/Avios 6 month rule

Options
Hi All, I've been a cardholder of the Lloyds Amex Duo since 2009 and am a little confused regarding the changes at Lloyds. The Lloyds website still calls my account Duo, and I know that they are slashing rewards as outlined by MSE Karl here:

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5879841/mse-news-lloyds-to-slash-rewards-for-avios-credit-cardholders&highlight=avios

But I don't know if this applies to the duo accounts. Can anyone clarify for me?

Also, If I were in the market for a new Amex, and wanted to pick up several thousand extra Avios to boot, it would appear that Amex will not allow anyone the joining bonus if they have held membership rewards Amex cards for the six months prior to application.

I have the Amex/Mastercard Lloyds duo with a fairly chunky credit limit, which is useful. I have a Tesco Mastercard with a fairly pathetic limit, which they have refused to increase several times. So how would MSEs here suggest I maximise my Avios collecting? Should I apply for a card in the interim and leave Amex for six months, in the hope that there will be a decent joining bonus when I'm eligible again?

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your answers! Jon
