I have PCGuard Total (from Virgin). To use the "belt and braces" philosophy of pc security I decided to add a couple of bits.
1. Have tried to download Lavasoft Ad-Aware freeby version of anti-spyware. The download stopped partway through and wouldnt go any further.
2. Spotted Google Pack has Spyware Doctor. Downloaded that and started scanning - scan stopped at 22% and just wouldnt go any further (having found a few minor blips) - which left me wondering whether there is something I ought to know about in the remaining 78%. Couldnt start the scan again and couldnt switch it off. In fact couldnt do anything at all with my pc and was only able to switch it off by switching the power off at socket and then went off into confusion went a message came up on screen asking me what mode to start up in - several choices inc. safe mode. Hadnt the faintest - so just pushed "enter" key and it went ahead as per normal.
Wondering why I had problems with those 2 things - whether PCguard is incompatible with them - so it stopped them (thinking they were problems). Or - whether there is some "baddie" lurking on my pc and thats what stopped them.
Any ideas - that a pc-illiterate like myself will understand?
