Looking for rug wool

Hi, does anybody know of a good source for bargain rug wool. I want to make a latch rug in as many colours as I can get hold of, so ends of range/dye is absolutely fine. I don't mind pre-cut or not, but it must be wool.

If somebody here knows where I might try - I've done ebay, the usual craft suppliers etc., so what would be good would be a mill that sells to the public. Being in the South, woollen mills are few and far between!

Find a sheep farmer! Particularly one with rare breeds, as they are exempt from wool marketing regulations.

A fleece of a non rare breed often costs more to shear than gained when sold. Even good rare breed fleece can be had for a tenner.

I know a fair few farmers of rare breeds who just burn the excess. We use ours, well wifey does, but don't have that many sheep.

Not many sheep farmers where I am, not that I'm into spinning so even if I find a farmer, it won't be of much use.

  • Good heavens above...........
I remember when I was a kid 55 years ago that we made rugs with my Mum.
T.V was a big no no in our house.
I remember Readicut rugs from then.
Lo & behold they are still on the go after all this time.
Don't know about the wool prices but here is a link.
