I had repairs done to some windows a while ago. The new parts only have primer and maybe undercoat on them. I know it's not good practice but what is the effect of not putting on further coats (apart from it not looking great)?

Seems a bit pointless and expensive to replace something that must have been rotten and then not protect the replacements adequately.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Is the plan never to put the top coats on ? or is it that it will be a while before you can finish the job?.
Obviously the final gloss paint will provide additional weather protection0 -
I should have explained- the exterior has had two coats of gloss. It is the interior that is unfinished. Just wondering how long I can get away with leaving it.0
