Hi all,
I am looking for advice and a recommendation please.
We live in an old stone cottage-in very damp part of the world (Noth West) so the house is slightly damp all the time. We do have few damp spots onthe wall here and there, but that is mainly caused thanks to the previous owners removing chomney and laying concrete&stone in the whole downstairs so the house has no chance to breathe.
We also get condensation on windows in the winter.
Now I have read good things about Positive Input ventilation units. We just had roof done so I think it is time to put it in the loft.
But I have no idea which would be best. I don’t want anyone coming to my home and giving me hard sell on something and pressuring us and then leaving mess behind after installation and never be heard from again.
So I am looking for recommendation please.
Ours is 3 bedroon house and I think we will want one with warm air option too.
Thank you very much

I have had one of these in my house for about 15 years .

I have also fitted several for other people.
They work extremely well.
They are easy enough to fit yourself if you have basic DIY skills.
Mine does produce a cool draught but it is not that noticeable.
It is very cheap to run around 1p per day is their figure.
The heat option will obviously cost a lot more to run but that would be up to you.0 -
Thank you
How difficult is it to fit yourself?
We would ask our electrician to do it, but I am not sure if he had done something like this before.
Not sure how much would he charge us for it, or if he was reasonable.
I've seen different post on Nuaire, and to have it fitted by them seemed to be very expensive!
I do realise the heat option would be more expensive, but our house does get very cold in the winter, and as you say it produces little draft, so it would save on heating bills.0 -
Very simple to do.
I believe there are downloadable instructions on the Nuaire website.

Basically you cut a hole in your ceiling fit the unit & then plug it in !!
I would have thought around £250 depending where you are in the country of course.
HTH
P.S.
Another thread here but I think that they have been well overcharged even for the unit.

Not local to you, I have used them for replacement filters, extremely helpful and even established the age of the unit we have.

Although more expensive, why not go for heat recovery ventilation system, but unsure how long it would take for it to pay for itself?0
