Switching electricity on a set date when current deal ends. Is this possible?

My npower fix ends 31st Oct.

Doing a uswitch comparison there are better deals out there.

When going through the switch process am I able to stipulate that I want the switch to occur on a specific date? In this case the 1st Nov 2018

As it happens, uswitch says Npower have a better deal available but its not the one they have offered me. They are offering a 5y fix with quite high costs.

No, you can't. Predicting prices in one year, let alone five, is a crystal ball job, so a 5 year fix will have a lot of padding in it. Far too long IMHO: I would not fix for more than two years.

Generally you cannot set the date a switch will actually occur.
A few suppliers invite you to request a specific date, perhaps from a set range or alternatives, but it is not guaranteed.

If you transfer tariffs (i.e. remain with the same supplier) generally, if you apply directly via the supplier, they will transfer you at expiration of the existing or may offer you this option.

If you do it direct with npower, they can set a future date.
But you would loose cash back, but it would be smoother.

A 5 year fix is bonkers!

    1 or 2 year only !

Which tariff were you offered by nPower exactly?

    I only see 4 options:

    Standard Variable
Price Fix September 2020 (what they call a medium term fix)
Go Green Energy Fix September 2020
Super Fix September 2021(what they call a long term fix)

Maybe they have offered yo a tariff only available to existing customers?
But they should advise you of their cheapest option(s) available directly from them too.

This is supposed to be the full list of all current open and closed tariffs offered by nPower

I don't see anything with a end date later than 30-Jun-2022 (Price Freeze June 2022 - now closed to new applicants)
