LVT or Engineered Wood?

It's time to refloor our downstairs areas, uneven in places, concrete floors - living room with real fire, dining room, hall and downstairs loo, (kitchen already ceramic tiled).
In a previous house we had a refurbed parquet floor and loved it, love real wood. But we can't afford to get similar fitted here, it's too pricey for us. So we love wood but can't afford it, what about LVT or engineered wood? No pets, or kids. What's best value affordable, I know little about either choice but will be getting it fitted no DIY. Ta.

We looked at both for our hall/lounge/dining room and the engineered oak (good quality with a thick, 6mm, layer of solid oak) was the outright winner. You only need to place sample pieces of each side by side to see that even the more expensive LVT looks 'plastic'. Also remember that real wood can be sanded down and re-oiled if it gets damaged, unlike LVT.
Price will vary according to quality and area - but we paid £3K for the flooring, skirting boards and fitting (35 square meters in all). Our base floors were decent, though.0 -
I'll never get used to seeing "luxury" and "vinyl" in the same sentence.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Where did you buy from and how did you get it fitted? What did you look out for? Thanks.0 -

I've sent you a pm to say where I live - I don't want to say in 'clear' as I don't want to identify which LGPS I used to work for.0
