What's cheap for one may not be cheap for another, plus as you know other risk factors come into play irrespective of the car, my car costs less than £300 fully comp, a younger guy at work has a similar performance car and his insurance was near £2k but he considers that a bargain, compared to what he was paying for his previous car.
All you can do is run some dummy quotes.0 -
Thank you for reply, currently i have an old banger but it's going, i only pay £130 a month for it so i would like my insurance to be £200 or less which would be 1litre as they are cheaper it's more i don't know what car to get and which deal would be cheaper for me if you understand me?0

£1500 per annum premium ouch!
That said you may find a newer car cheaper to run (but not buy).0 -
yep and it get's more expensive, that's what i am looking for, do you think finance would be cheapest way to go?0

Avoid the normal first car choices such as ka fiesta or Corsa as the tend to actually be more expensive to insure due to high accident rate for inexperienced drivers.
What is your budget for the car, what mileage do you do and how is the car used, ie how many people carried.0 -
for insurance ideally under £200 and for the car under £150 so not much option haha i am not sure about mileage but atm i only use it for work and not going too far other then work as i don't think my car would make it too far, i would like to go out a bit more when i get a new one though and not many people 4 at most but that is rare.0

Avoid fuel and go type agreements, they tend to be poor value and small print allows them to withdraw the insurance if you get too many speeding fines.
Sensible option is a personal loan say £3500 and buy second hand car. £3500 gets you a decent car for under £150 a month and you own it outright at end of 3 years. You don't need to worry about how many miles you do as it is your car.
In contrast a 3 year finance at £150 would see you spending £5400 with nothing to show for it at the end of 3 years when you hand it back. You will also have a mileage cap with penalties for exceeding the mileage.0 -
Thank you so much! i will start looking into a personal loan and a car!0

You need to remember that it isn't the car that is being insured. the insurance is for YOU to drive the car. Your driving history and age are the critical factors.
Add Mum or Dad (assuming they have a good driving history) as a named driver (Not them as a policy holder with you as a named driver). This will reduce your premium.
Play around with your job title as a small variation on your title can reduce the risk to the insurers and hence your premium.
Go for a less popular car as the 'pool' of these cars will have less accidents than typical small first time drivers cars.
Do some dummy quotes on the internet providers with different cars etc to see what your premiums come out at.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
My mum doesn't drive and my dad has a company car so I can't use them, I have poor credit rating so I can't get a personal loan unless I pay back a lot more, I think I'm going to have to go with a car finance, but thank you for reply.0
