Cracked mini iPad glass

I bought a new mini iPad in May and noticed the other day that the glass had cracked from one corner to the other. It hasn’t been dropped and it has always been protected with a strong cover.
What can I do?
Thank you

take it to the Apple store so they can inspect it and see whether there was a manufacturing fault

Pay to get the screen repaired, or bin it.
  • Apple don’t replace screens on iPads. It’s a full unit replacement
  • Have you got Applecare+?
  • If that is an insurance then the answer is no. I only bought the iPad in May of this year.

Still book an appointment with apple and let them look at it, if they say it hasn't been dropped they will replace it

My iPad went totally wonky not long after buying it. Wasn't dropped, nothing untoward, and whilst apple couldn't tell what had happened, they also couldn't say it was dropped so replaced it
  • Does anyone else have access to it? They could have dropped it and denied it.
I used to work for the repairs team at a large retailer, and the amount of people that would swear blind that they hadn’t dropped it etc when there was clearly a huge dent in the corner corresponding to the start of the crack was unreal. :D

My favourite was a lady absolutely adamant her phone hadn’t been dropped, and while she thought she was covering the mic on the phone to me told her partner that ‘I think he’s buying the story’. Busted :)
She then denied saying it so we had to pull the call recordings. Paid in the end, though!

Bear in mind that within the first 6 months from purchase it is for the supplier* to prove that any fault was NOT inherent ... and simply saying so isn't enough, they need to evidence that the consumer has damaged the product.

    * Supplier = who you bought it from. If this wasn't Apple themselves then technically you should contact who you did buy from. However an Apple store will probably help you out under the warranty terms.
