Hi all, looking for a bit of advice here.
My daily electricity import has more than doubled at some point over the last 14 days.... !!!!!!!
The red LED on my electric meter appears to be blinking every 3 to 4 secs constantly (importing over 1000w?).
I started turning off various devices around the house last night, still no change. I then tried turning each circuit breaker off one by one, no change.
Finally I tried switching off the main fuse box....still the meter flashes, surely this isn`t right? Faulty meter?
    TIA.

Could be a faulty consumer unit! ;)
If the main isolator is switched off, no electricity should be flowing, so no electricity should be recorded by the meter.
Get it checked by a qualified electrician.

Not only will this put your mind at rest if there is an ongoing safety issue, (as the electrician will ensure isolation if necessary, or hopefully repair the faulty CU) but in the event the meter has somehow developed a fault, you will then have an expert who will hopefully assist you to support any claim against the supplier who will offer evidence the meter was recording consumption when no electricity was actually flowing.

The meter light should be constantly on after a while

    Are you in flats?

The meters I've seen that have a flashing red LED utilise that to indicate energy is flowing, and the rate of falsh indicates the quantity.

If no electricity is flowing (consistent with a correctly functioning islation switch turned off), then the LED should not flash. It will remain either lit or not lit, as per the status when the supply was isolated.

I would be amazed if it was a faulty consumer unit doing this!

The meter I had (similar to described above ) would pulse in normal use, but put the led on solid if the cu was off or disconnected.
