I presume these were tracked wheelbarrows with a tipping/rising skip. When the recoil starter asy fell off you should have taken a photo as i agree the spinning engine flywheel would indeed be dangerous, use the photo to add leverage with the depot manager re. discount.
If you get no joy with discount you can always go on social media and leave a truthfull if non complimentary review, best of luck.

    Speak to the HSE too.
  • An update - I seem to have finally got my money back. It has been a long process. There was a lot of backward and forward with the cc company. First person I spoke to wasn't interested, the next two were very supportive. In summary, I sent in my information, they temporarily credited my account, hire company replied with lies and said they had discounted for one machine but charged for damage on the other. Cc company removed the credit on my account. I objected, was asked for more proof. I stated they had all of the proof and can check the proof that they already have against the companies latest claims, and that I want a full refund at absolute minimum. In my mind this can go to court and HSE should have a look at this company. Anyway.. Had to send the information / proof for a second time, account was again temporarily credited.

The time for the hire company to object has now officially lapsed at the end of April, and unless there is a letter from the cc company on it's way to me, I seem to have got the money back from an absolutely diabolical 'company'.

Ganga - I had everything photographed, documented etc. Names and times of phone calls etc. It was still hard work. It was just so unfair. They took my money and might as well as given me a bag of crisps to work with. It was robbery in my mind, plus messed up the job, and cost me more time and money on top of what they took in the first place.

Thank you all for the comments above.
