Last time I moved, my must haves were
Off road parking
Decent sized rooms
Enough of a front garden that the house wasn't directly on the street
outside space
Kitchen not open plan
Upstairs bathroom
cornershop within walking distance
not on a main road
detached or semi detached
Good to haves
reasonable standard of decor
3 double bedrooms
some character features
village location
en suite
No Way
Downstairs bathroom
Bathroom too small for a bath
shared access or row across my property
flood risk
Since I couldn't afford a detached property, I also specifically looked for properties where the main bedroom had no shared walls with the neighbours. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Our list was
3/4 beds
Bathroom with bath and shower
Ready to move into (no doer uppers)
Parking for at least 2 car
Walking distance to school
Semi or at the very least end terrace (been mid terrace before)
Near enough but not too near parents
A spare room so we could host family events.
We got most of the list. Price meant that we ended up with a house that will be perfect once we have done an extension. Until then, the decor is dodgy, we have one bathroom and no spare room. We do, however, have an extended garage/workshop which keeps DH happy.0 -
I dislike open plan for two reasons really. I don't like kitchen smells to be wafting around, and smaller defined rooms (i.e. lounge+dining room+kitchen) are easier to heat
They're the same reasons I would never buy somewhere with an open staircase actually.I oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.0 -

Mine would be:
Must have:
-Quiet enough surroundings (no busy roads, nightclubs school with screaming kids etc.)
-Garden (preferably a small one that gets the sun but doesn't require too much work to upkeep)
-Bath
-EPC D or higher
-Not a fixer upper (must at least have fully working bathroom and kitchen.)
-Lots of light
Preferable
-Upstairs bathroom
-Driveway
-Local transport/Amenities (20-25 minute walk away max)
-Limited DIY needed.
No way:
-Artificial lawn
-Small bathroom with no window
-Flats or maisonettes
-No garden
-Busy road
-Mold/damp/subsidence/serious construction work
-large gardens/lands
-very large rooms (I like cosy!)
-ex murder house
-ex drug den0
