Flight cancelled - before journey starts

Was just notified that one of my flights was cancelled.
was travelling LGW-RGN and was advised that DOH-RGN portion of the flight was cancelled and offered an alternative flight.
Note the advice to me was < 14 days before flight.
I didn't feel I had much choice so accepted another flight a couple of days prior to the original one.
Question is - does this mean I'm entitled to the new Euro compensarion?

I'm a little confused. Was your trip along the lines of:
London Gatwick - Yangon
Yangon - Doha
Doha - Yangon
Yangon - London Gatwick
And your Doha - Yangon sector was cancelled?
You were offered an alternative flight which you accepted?
The cancelled flight did not begin or end in the EU?
Can you make your question a little clearer and I'll try to help0 -
Sorry
Flight is London - Doha, Doha - Yangon outbound then Bangkok - Doha, Doha - London, only stopping in Doha to transfer, all of this is on one booking.
The Doha - Yangon flight was cancelled.
I was offered the opportunity to travel either two days earlier or two days late - I took two days earlier.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Mitre,
I think I understand your query a little better now.
There's a good Question/Answer facility on the Civil Aviation Authority website (run independently from the airlines by the government) which should help but as far as I can tell, the new EU legislation only applies if you are flying to/from an EU airport with an EU airline.
The first question is which airline were you travelling with?
However, as it was your connecting flight from Doha-Yangon that was affected, I suspect the airline are exempt as they were operating between non-EU airports.
The legislation then goes on to explain that following a cancellation you are entitled to "Re-routing to your final destination as soon as possible or, if you agree, at a later date" which sounds like is what happened?
Hope this helps0
