Windows and Doors - Not UPVC or Timber, is Aluminium our only option?

Another question, for a whole remodel we need to start looking at windows and doors. Timber and UPVC is not an option for us and we like the slimline aluminium windows, which seem to be at every home show we have visited. Is there any alternatives we are missing? If anyone could share their experience that would be helpful.

We also have wrote off bifold doors as I had these previously in UPVC over 15 years ago and whilst I like them I just didn't find them very space saving so are looking at large sliders/patio doors one in each downstairs bedroom and one off the kitchen diner. Again, anyone have any opinion?

If you had UPVC bi-folds I understand why you don't like them!

For me bi-folds & sliding patio doors do different jobs. Next door has all glass (more or less) across the back, they have sliding doors & it looks great with two panels slid open. It's such a big opening that the one panel still in place doesn't spoil it. We just have glass across the dining room & prefer bi-folds as they allow the whole side of the room to open up. Ours fold inwards & almost hide in an alcove out of sight.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
