Email blocking not working

I use Virgin Media email. When I Block an unwanted rubbish email I sometimes find it appears again. Then, if I block it again, I get the message
The address you are trying to block is already on your blacklist.
So my blocking is not very effective. Do other people have the same trouble with their Virgin Mail, please?

Can you change your email to Gmail, Hotmail or other supplier? Webmail from an ISP is notoriously unreliable.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Thank you for your two replies. I do have a Hotmail account but I keep this one open to make it easier for old aquaintances (we are all in the 75+ Club!).
