Pay when signed off sick

Hi

Someone I know has been signed off sick from work in the civil service, for a period of two weeks. She will probably be going back to her GP to be signed off for some more.

She has been in her job for several years. Does anyone know what the civil service do: it is full pay for a certain period and then SSP?

  • Are you asking as a friend for info or just asking? will depend on many things her contract for one, if she's unsure she should contact her HR dept and ask.
  • When I worked for civil service it was 6 months full pay 6 months half pay although it was some time since I have been employed there.

    It all depends on her contract, did she opt into the employee deal, is she pre-2013?


    Contracts have changed over the years so it all depends which particular contract she is on.

    If she joined prior to 2013 she will get a maximum of 6months full pay then 6 months half pay.

    If she joined after 2013 she will get 1 month full pay and 1 month half pay per year of employment upto a maximum of 5 months of each after 5 years.

  • Thanks. Pretty sure joined after 2013, I think it is something like 2016.
