    Yes. These can either be implicit or explict. (i.e. fee based with commission rebated, commission based - the old fashioned way or a combination of both where you agree a fee but use the commission to pay that amount with any surplus being used to reduce product charges or provide a rebate).

    Going direct to provider can actually be more expensive than using an IFA as often providers keep the commission they would pay an IFA for themselves.

    If there is a group personal pension involved (as the receiving scheme), then there is often a servicing IFA for that scheme who can provide advice on fund selection and whether to transfer or not.
