Silvercrest speaker not discoverable

Hi All,

Wonder if anyone can help me with this. On a shim I bought one of those little Silvercrest speakers to pair up with an Echo Dot. It was on offer for £25 (fish) and I thought it would be a simple way of getting the functionality of the dot but then having it louder when we wanted.

However I didn't realise that the Silvercrest needs to be on the wireless network and controlled by an app in order to function. This is a bit off-putting, but I thought I'll give it a go.

After installing the app and setting the speaker up, I can't get it to find the router. Even tried using the WPS pair function instead but it does nothing. We have a Virgin Media Hub 2.

Has anyone got any advice or experience in setting these up together?

  • have you tried it on a different router to see if its the router or the device?

Can the app connect to the speaker via the USB port? (No idea .. but if it can then this may aid WiFi setup).

I note also from the product specs (I'm assuming you have the 18W, 30W or 35W version):

    Encryption
    WEP, WPA and WPS

What WiFi encryption is your router using? (Perhaps it is incompatible).
