Which key will give me full screen by hiding fav/tool bars?

Options
Many years ago on an my old PC, I was able to touch F11 I think and it would temporarily go to full screen, Favs/tool bar would hide. One touch would bring them back.

Im now using HP Envy laptop and W10. but as yet I haven't fathomed out how to carry out this , just for short clips etc.

I was watching a live broadcast of our council meeting last night where it was possible to make on-line comments, but I could not see the box where anything typed appeared and needed to.

Just tried ff,edge,IE and pressing the windows key and f11, does what I want, but not with chrome my browser or opera.

Interesting Andy, just googled and many folk say it can't be done in many versions of chrome and advise firefox where it does. I pressed f11 on its own, with windows key, with alt, no joy.

Works on my Chrome on W10 too, update your Chrome maybe although as far as I'm aware it has always worked.

The only way I can get it to "not work" is if I click on the task bar at the bottom which takes focus away from the browser. Try clicking on any part of the browser before hitting F11.
  • You may need to hold down fn (function) while pressing F11 depending on your bios settings.

It says it's up to date, 69.0.3497.92. Do you have to press any other key simultaneously with f11. Actually the f11 is at the top of a key showing two rt pointing arrows and a I

Sounds like my laptop key except it's over the play/pause symbols (one arrow two bars). Usually if a function key is needed it would be a different colour. On my keyboard the Fn key is grey as is the play/pause so I'd need Fn together with F11 to play/pause but F11 is just the key on its own. It works on my chrome (was 68.0.3440.106 and just updated to 69.0.3497.92) as well as opera.

Did you try this? fn + f11 (keys at the same time)
