Limit Transfer?

I know that if you have got 2 credit cards from the same bank, you can transfer the 90% of the available limit from one to another and cut the first.

Does it work within the same banking group, by any chance?

The question is due to the fact that it appears I can see my Bank of Scotland accounts in Halifax online banking.

Really. I have been advised by a branch manager when I came to ask if by any chance I am eligible for a card with long 0% interest which was on offer. He suggested that I apply for a second card, clear the one I have already, and then transfer 90% of available limit from the old card to the new one.

I actually did it several times since then.
  • You can either transfer a certain amount or some cards let your consolidate the full limit between them and then close the one the limit is moved from
  • I guess you would have to ask your bank(s) but I feel this should be possible, particularly if they appear in the same online banking interface.
