Farnham area - honest opinions needed

Hi. We're thinking of relocating to Farnham to be close to family but don't know the area at all apart from a few day visits. Does anybody know it well enough to comment on what the areas of lower hale (by the hospital and up by farnham Park) are like, and also the bit over by the Ridgeway school? Would also appreciate any thoughts on how safe it is at night and how good schools/nurseries are in those bits.

Thanks!

Farnham is actually in Surrey - although it is almost surrounded by Hampshire.

I think Peter Crutchfield sums things up pretty well in the top video on this page (his album is great by the way)...

Our lad loves Farnham park too.
  • I live about 15 minutes away and Farnham is a lovely area. The town itself is really nice, has some good shops and is a nice size while also being close to Guildford for when you need to go somewhere bigger.

There are plenty of open spaces in the area and from a safety point of view I have never had any worries at all in this area, even in Aldershot which is a few miles away and considered the less affluent part of the area I wouldn't have any safety concerns.

I don't know the schools as I went the opposite direction towards Camberley for schools so cant help on that front, sorry.
  • I have family in nearby Fleet and have been travelling down there all my life. The only thing that ever concerned me about the area was the astronomical (compared to the North East) housing prices!
  • Thanks everyone. Nervous about uprooting us all for an unknown but it seems like a much better long term option than where we are in the London surrounds.
