Not sure if this is the correct place to put this post....

I sent a TV through Parcel Force. I dropped the TV off at the Post Office, I said it was a TV I was sending, they actually specifically asked what it was. I asked about insurance, they said it was insured for £100, but to get it insured for £200 it would be an extra £1.80, which I thought was a no brainier. Anyway, the TV was delivered this afternoon, but the screen is all smashed.

Raging.... but thought, it’s ok, it is insured for £200. I proceeded to phone Parcel Force, to be told they do not cover TVs through their insurance, it actually took the person over 10 minutes to find this information on their website while I was on the phone. They explained the Post Office should have known this and explain it isn’t covered. If I had realised it wasn’t, I would not have sent it.

Has anyone else had any experience on this, or any tips to take this further?

Really, you wouldn't have sent it?

Sounds like insurance never entered your heard until they mentioned it.

I never wrote the original post very well, I asked if it would be insured, they said up to £100, but for an extra £1.80, I could insure it for £200, so no brained to send it through them.

TV's are listed as excluded from compensation

    https://www.parcelforce.com/help-and-advice/sending/items-we-exclude-compensation

The Post Office is a separate company to Parcel Force and just act as a drop off point for the service.

The insurance you bought covered the item against getting lost, not damaged!

This is down to poor packing.

As you have been advised, TVs, and china, glass etc aren't insured for breakage

Was it worth £200? You would only have got £200 were you having to claim for its loss if you could prove it's value was £200

Thanks, do you know for a fact that there is no responsibility from Post Office? Will be interesting to know, looking into it. They can’t just willy nilly sell insurance that is no use

There isn't any mileage if you are thinking you were missold

(Unless you were told you were buying insurance against damage in transit)

They ask what's in the parcel for security reasons not to sell insurance for damage,!

They said it covered damage, if they said no I wouldn’t have sent it through them.
