Amazon return of faulty goods

Hello
I ordered an item from Amazon 11 months ago and it no longer works. Usually if I contact Customer Service they refund it if it's within 12 months of purchase.
Today I was told the policy has changed to only 6 months return period if the item cost less than £20.
Was anyone else aware of this?

Without knowing what it is it's hard to tell.
I had an Amazon tablet that developed a fault the day after Prime Day. I was happy to replace it but decided to see what would happen if I contacted them. I ended up getting it quite a bit less than the Prime Day price even though they protested at first.

So my suggestion would be to get on to Live Chat and complain a bit and see what happens. Work out what the least you'd expect and the most and negotiate. They're quite open to a friendly customer complaint. I'd always caution against being confrontational, as a seller that would shut me down.

  • The onus is on yourself to demonstrate the product is inherently faulty as it's past 6 months.

As above if you complain politely they may assist but you are relying on their goodwill.

  • To be honest, moneysaving or not, is it worth the effort for a £20 item that probably has less than £10 value left in it? You don't say what it is but a £20 item is not necessarily a long term item.
  • It was a fast charger for £15. I had the item refunding by phoning them. I was just interested to know if the 6 month return period for faulty goods was common knowledge.

It certainly is for me. I've ordered a replacement at no cost.
