Apply for NI number

Hello members

My wife soon has her NI number interview. Can you please recommend which reason we should quote from following:

1. I want to apply for NI number because I want to earn national insurance credits as I am a full-time mother and husband is in high earner category. This will allow my children to get their NI numbers when they turn 16

OR

2. I want to apply jobs in future therefore want to apply NI number

Both points are true but for simplicity I think we should quote one. Which one is likely to get us through the interview quicker and enable my wife to get her NI number

In the unlikely event that she is asked why she wants a NI number, it's perfectly acceptable to just say that she has only just realised that she is entitled to one & that it would be essential if starting work or for any future benefit claims such as state pension.
