Keep your money in your wallet and download one of these three
AVG
Avast
AntiVir
Which one should you choose? Well, none of the above three are bad, they have plenty of users worldwide, they all can be schedule to update regularly, they all find viruses, they are all as good if not better than some of the paid for AVs out there, it's just a matter of taste
Don't forget to consider a firewall as well, and keep one, possibly two anti spyware apps installed0 -
Also you can look for NOD32, its quite a good one, I use it.0

NOD32 is not free however.
Of the commercial products you haev to pay for NOD32 and Kaspersky are both well regarded and reasonably priced.
Personally I currently use AntiVir although I have used AVG extensively int he past. I haven't had a problem with either. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

Yet it does well here.0

Guess my thoughts are well known then
The computer shopper lab test I've commented on many times. I switched to NOD32 after I saw that test because the more I looked into it with other lab tests such as the av comparatives site the more I realised the computer shopper test wasn't accurately reflecting everyone else's results. So I went with the majority of experts rather than computer shopper's one off test."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Avast and/or AVG for me also :thumbsup:BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!
THE KILLERS

Free - Avast or AntiVir
Paid - If you have mediocre/advanced PC knowledge, Kaspersky... very strong if you use its Proactive Defense properly!
Paid - Antivir
Paid - AVG AntiMalware
Paid - F-Secure
I suggest you try the Trial versions and see which you like the best. Dont just read other people's opinions, make your own!

Not that good according to this recent test.
NOD32 Verdict: An eccentric package that gives only average protection.
Typical PC Pro review sadly. The author, like most of the PC Pro staff, doesn't have a clue.
The interface isn't bewildering at all. Just because it's not Nortons "Noddy" UI doesn't mean it's bad. I've yet to get the problems he claims to have had.
In the article, the author is very picky about definitions of things and slates NOD32, AN ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE PACKAGE for not finding a TROJAN.
He then goes on to bluster about the fact that although trojans aren't viruses, an antivirus program should be able to detect them all despite being so pedantic about UI menu entry naming.
"We take the view that, while programs like this may not technically be viruses, an antivirus package still ought to intercept them, so we draw no distinction between viruses, spyware, trojans and all other types of malware."
If you want an ESET package that does everything, you buy ESET Security Suite.0
