GDPR/ICO & CRF File changes

If anyone has successfully used interpretations of either GDPR legislation or ICO guidelines or both to have changes made to data held on their Credit Reference File in any agency I'd be interested to hear.

  • Changes to what data?

The data the CRA's report come from the lenders/creditors that report to them
  • Here's an example posted on another board:-

'I just thought I should mention that you would be better off having the PDL mark the account as defaulted, backdated to when you were 3-6 months in arrears. That way, the 'toxic' account is removed from your credit file earlier (six years from the date of default), instead of six years from when the account is settled or satisfied.
I would ask them to do so, quoting the applicable ICO guidance. '

If the example were to pan out in my situation then that would be an example of using the ICO guidelines to affect the data on my file via the lender/creditor.
  • You don't need to invoke GDPR or the ICO.

Just ask the creditor to amend the default date

Youv'e quoted me. And yes, it has been successful in correcting the default date error. :)

See the thread linked below. Pay special attention to post #4.

  • Yes I did quote you and it is advice for which I am extremely grateful. My communication to said PDL is ready to go.

    Thx
