Porting iPad to TV?

The other day my wife wanted to watch a programme on catch up. I can't remember if it was BBC or ITV. Problem was it wasn't loaded on the catch up player on the TV but it was if she used the catch up on the iPad. Apparently there's been about 6 episodes this series but the TV is only showing the first 3 whereas the iPad catch up showed all of them.
So she watched it on the iPad but if there's a way she could port this to the TV to watch on that then it'd be better.
And while I'm asking I should also ask are there any other benefits to being able to do this (if you can) or would this just be 'the' benefit?

Buy an Apple Tv (its not a new Tele) You can then Airplay from the iPad to it.0

Out of interest is that the only way? The Apple TV box thing i imagine will need to be plugged in to the mains, plus we already have a Firestick and i'm not sure what we'd really use an Apple TV thing for other than for this.0

Buy an Apple / Apple certified lightning to HDMI adapter , preferably one with a passthrough power charging port. e.g. https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I'm sure there's cheaper versions on the Bay but it's whether they're reliable or whether they'll end up being fire hazards or something.
I'll take a look at the price of second hand Apple TV units. If we could get in the £20-£30 marker then maybe we'll get it but at £49 we'll have to pass.0 -

We tried it through the app on the TV and as said it only loaded the first 3 episodes. The 3 after that were missing but were on the iPad version of the app.0 -

If you had a Chromecast you could use it to cast the programme to the TV. iPlayer works with Chromecast and I'm sure many other players will too. Chromecast is a USB stick like the Amazon one, albeit a little less "smart", and costs about £30.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0

I also use chromcast to watch iPlayer0
